Buzzed!
£690
Sky sat in the summer garden thinking
nothing particular when she was suddenly
distracted by a familiar noise.

Framed size measures - 57cm x 57cm

West Highland White Terriers
£325
A study of two Westies. This picture was a nice idea to show the relationship between two friends, a touch of homour and floating hairs give it an informal look I enjoyed adding.

Window of Curiosity

£700
Tom looks out at the world he has not yet
fully explored when a funny looking flying
thing lands on the window sill.

Two Horn Jacob Ram
£360
A simple head study on white paper of what was an impressive Ram at Derbyshire County Show in 2008.

Framed size measures -
56 x 52 cm

Cross Bred Goat
£
360

A simple head study on white paper again in my part-drawn style. This goat was actually quite ordinary, scruffy and pegged out on the grass on the North Yorkshire coast. I warmed to him as a subject straight away when he was quite relaxed standing on the path scratching his rump with his horns. Goats are one of my favourite animals.

Framed size measures - 61 x 57 cm

Big Day Out
£950

Shire mare and foal dozing in the midday sun at Derby County Show 2008. The foal was very entertaining as his nose kept lowering and touching the chalk dust in the grass then whobbled back to rest against
the lorry.

Framed size measures - 84.5 x 51 cm

I'm Curious
£295
A curious Shire foal pushes under mum to see more closely. I liked the tired looking mother in the hot sun and as with humans, the youngster was fully awake.

Framed size measures - 40 x 58 cm

  Architectural Studies
  Details from Derbyshire

This collection is currently being produced and is going to have more examples of the different aspects of architecture in Derbyshire and more specifically the characteristics of the Peak District.   The area is not only remembered for its landscape but also its buildings made from limestone or millstone gritstone, but more interestingly the combination of both. Older roofs use the heavy gritstone.

  General architectural studies

Haddon Hall
£
950
A very detailed study of the mix of grit stone and limestone of this famous medieval courtyard. The entrance corner of the courtyard is my subject, nothing straight or of today's building standards. A real delight. Jane Eyre was filed here recently, and it has been the ideal setting for numerous historic films. Old and atmospheric it has a magnetic draw for the romantic soul in deepest darkest Derbyshire.

Framed size measures -
63 x 82 cm

Osmaston Cottage
£375

A study of a rural Derbyshire cottage built by the Osmaston Manor estate. The estate village is distinctive and picturesque with architectural intrigue. The actual estate house was demolished in 1965, but a very nice Saw Mill remains next to the lake.

Framed size measures -
61 x 45.5 cm

Chatsworth House North Wall
£850
A study of the famous north wall entrance to the house. Many foreign tourists will see this grand gateway but not many will pass under it. Produced as a pure pencil study and my first large architectural work.

Framed size measures -
80 x 61 cm

South Front winding stair, Kedleston Hall
£325
The famous sweeping steps at the rear of Kedleston Hall, a direct influence from the 18th century Robert Adam's grand tour of Europe. My family connection is that my Dad's mother worked there as a maid between the wars for the Curzon family.

Framed size measures -
40 x 58 cm

Chatsworth Oak
£950
Inspired by architecture, this study was made after a specifically planned walk to see these beautiful survivors left by the estate out of their natural interest to visitors when the current house was built.

Framed size measures -
60 x 82 cm

Ambergate Railway Bridge
£375
A railway bridge worth looking at for very nice Victorian build interest. The bricks are set at an angle according to the gritstone edgeing and the A6 it crosses.

Framed size measures -
47 x 57 cm

Strutt House, North Mill in Belper

£325

This has got to be a good example of early industrial age building, unusal and yet so full of character. This is definately one the Derwent Valley's better industrial buildings with a distinctive entrance.

Framed size measures - 47 x 57 cm

Newcomer

£950

All A1's were scrapped, but then many fans came together to build 60163, 20 years and lots of commitment resulted in a completely new locomotive. This scene is from a small window in history, its very first public runs in 2008 at Loughborough's Great Central Railway. This study is meant to show the engine's look of construction.

Framed size measures - 66 x 95 cm

3648 at Llanelli

£1100

This is a typical saddle tank engine from this area of the British railway network fast changing by 1961. I kept this picture black and white from the source photoghraphy as others, it is particularly powerful and atmospheric with ironically use of carbon, graphite pencil.

Framed size measures - 65 x 47 cm

4114 at Snowhill

£1100

Image size measures - 42 x 29.7 cm

Image size measures - 42 x 29.7 cm

37026 at Llandudno Junction

£875
The setting was 1994 whilst on a trip to North Wales. This is the older generation of diesels, an English Electric V12 engined locomotive built in 1961.

Framed to your specification on request
Image size measures - 50.5 x 36 cm

Smoke and Stone

£325
This is a study of the memorable stonework that lines the cutting and tunnels that link Liverpool Lime Street to the railway network. The blackened colour of the stone reminds us today that steam engines once ran into the station.

Framed to your specification on request
Image size measures - 25 x 35 cm

Ghost of KS4000

£975
The forgotten prototype of the late 1960's rated the highest powered diesel of its time when built by Brush of Loughborough Kestrel was sold to Russia in the early 70's where it ended its life being analysed, tested and eventually scrapped by the late 80's.

Image size measures - 42 x 59 cm

Lancaster

£295

I am a big fan of the Merlin engine, the sound of it occasionally appears over the hill as the East Midlands Airport Spitfire displays over Duffield for Rolls Royce conferences. I liked the idea of this view of the Lancaster flying over the English landscape.
